Solar Lightings are Photovoltaic systems (PV system) use solar panels to convert sunlight into electricity. A system is made up of one or more solar photovoltaic (PV) panels, a DC/AC power converter (also known as an inverter), a racking system that holds the solar panels, electrical interconnections, and mounting for other components.
A small PV system may provide energy to a single consumer, or to an isolated device like a lamp or a weather instrument. Large grid-connected PV systems can provide the energy needed by many customers. The electricity generated can be either stored, used directly (island/standalone plant), or fed into a large electricity grid powered by central generation plants (grid-connected/grid-tied plant), or combined with one or many domestic electricity generators to feed into a small grid (hybrid plant). Systems are generally designed in order to ensure the highest energy yield for a given investment.
Solar Home lighting System are powered by solar energy using solar cells that convert solar energy (sunlight) directly to electricity. The electricity is stored in batteries and used for the purpose of lighting whenever required. The system comprises of Solar PV Module (Solar Cells), charge controller, battery and lighting system (lamps & fans). The solar module is installed in the open on roof exposed to sunlight and the charge controller and battery are kept inside a protected place in the house.
Vijaya Solar Home Lighting System
Usage : The Solar Home Lighting system is a fixed installation designed for domestic application.
Special Features : Vijaya Solars Home Lighting systems are designed to give a daily working time of 3-4 hours with a fully charged battery. The system provides for buffer storage for 1-2 non-sunny /cloudy days. It is easy to install and use. The configuration is as per demands of the customers.
Feature : A Solar lantern is a simple application of solar photovoltaic technology, which has found good acceptance in rural regions where the power supply is irregular and scarce. Even in the urban areas people prefer a solar lantern as an alternative during power cuts because of its simple mechanism.

A solar Lantern is made of three main components - the solar PV panel, the storage battery and the lamp. The operation is very simple. The solar energy is converted to electrical energy by the SPV panel and stored in a sealed maintenance-free battery for later use during the night hours. A single charge can operate the lamp for about 4-5 hours.

HOW THE GRID TYPE SOLAR SYSTEMS WORKS
SOLAR PANELS: Solar panels collect molecules of sunshine, Which are little packets of energy and convert them to electric current
DC TO AC INVERTERS: This inverter coverts the DC current generated by the solar panels into AC current that can be used to power appliances in your home. Since there are no batteries the power generated can be used to run your appliances and can offset your utility power requirement. When the appliances are not under use or when the power produces is not under use, the electricity generated is fed back to the mains through your electric meter.
ELECTRICAL DISTRIBUTION PANEL: This electrical distribution panel is built in homes to distribute the loads. This is also used for protection and control.
AC LOAD: Once the solar panel convert the sun's light into electric current and that current has been converted from direct current (DC) to alternative current (AC), it can be used to power your lights and appliances.
TWO WAY ELECTRICITY METERS: This electricity meter can actually spin backwards as it feeds the electricity bills.
MAIN POWER GRID: Once electricity generated by your residence solar power systems is directed on to the power grid, it can be used by someone else.
Active systems are used generally for Industrial use and passive systems are for domestic use. The high efficiency solar collector panels are design-optimised to capture maximum useful heat from the sun. The light weight-casing of Aluminum is rigid, tough and completely corrosion proofs, designed to withstand all weather conditions. The storage tank is also light-weight strong and completely Corrosion proof. An inner Tank of the best quality Stainless Steel ensures clean, uncontaminated hot water and a long working life.
During the day, the system starts heating water from 8 a.m. onwards - gradually the entire tank is filled with hot water.
On a reasonably clear, sunny day, the whole tank should be filled with hot water by 12 noon. At this time some water may be drawn for washing dishes and clothes- if this hot water usage is between the hours of 11 a.m. to 1.00 p.m., the hot water used up will be replaced by fresh water by 4 p.m. so, that, at the end of the day, your tank is filled with 100 litre of hot water. This hot water will remain hot overnight, and is available for bathing during the early morning of the next day.
The sun is the source of all energy on earth. Therefore, using solar garden lights, lights powered by solar energy, to decorate our garden would be a wonderful idea. The advantages of solar garden lights are that they can be freely distributed in gardens without owners having to worry about cabling, or their children being electrocuted. Solar garden lights also score high marks for their use of renewable energy and little or no emission of pollutants.
